Configuration depends on the product and options selected. Privacy Hero 2 uses its own guided setup. On eligible ASUS and GL.iNet products, choose “Configure my router for VPN” when offered if you want FlashRouters to help prepare the VPN connection before shipment.
Compatibility varies by router, firmware and protocol. FlashRouters offers setup paths for major providers including NordVPN, ExpressVPN, Surfshark, Proton VPN, Private Internet Access, IPVanish and others. Check the specific product or provider page before ordering.
Not necessarily. Many customers connect a VPN router behind the existing ISP gateway, creating a separate VPN-enabled network without disrupting the original Wi-Fi. The best setup depends on the ISP equipment and whether it supports bridge or passthrough mode.
Compare the full router catalog or use the guided quiz if your home, VPN provider or setup still makes the choice unclear.
