The Asus RT-AC56U is the latest addition to our line of powerful Tomato firmware-upgraded devices. Now you can purchase a brand new Asus FlashRouter VPN solution with blazing fast AC wireless speed, and a customized open source firmware installation - all for under $250!
A new and improved version of the Asus RT-N56U - it's highly popular predecessor - the AC56U takes that design and ramps it up to next-gen wireless capabilities with the addition of 802.11ac.
Also included with the AC56U is a supercharged 800 MHz Broadcom processor, one of the best Asus router processors with Tomato support. Processing is the key to high-performance routing, and this one has room to burn and grow as streaming video demands become increasingly more intensive.
Using a FlashRouter is probably the easiest router setup you’ll ever experience!
Our expert technicians implement our router configuration, which allows the router to be immediately plugged in for Internet use as soon as it comes out of the box. Use your FlashRouter as your sole router or in our popular Dual Router configuration, which allows you to have two simultaneous but segmented networks. Among the benefits of the Dual Router configuration is the increased security that a separate VPN router provides, and it negates the need for advanced setup hassles.
For VPN users, having a large processor is an imperative component, as it makes the constant encryption and decryption the router will perform in the process that much quicker. The better the processor, the faster the VPN encrypted information can get to you.
Adding Tomato allows for VPN service integration with PPTP for just about any provider as well as OpenVPN for most providers. Tomato firmware is currently the preferred method of connecting via OpenVPN for its improved stability and functionality over DD-WRT
For more information on VPN service support, review the VPN Service Tab for supported services and protocols for the Asus RT-AC56U Tomato FlashRouter.
Looking to put your Tomato router in two virtual locations at once? Pick and choose which devices in your home you would like to have sent through the router's VPN connection with ease. If you want a device to bypass the VPN connection, this can now be done from within the Tomato firmware settings.
Additionally, with new Tomato ARM builds, you can set specific websites to go through VPN, while any other websites you visit will connect through your local ISP IP address. For example, if you would like for Netflix.com to go through VPN, while other sites stay through your local ISP, you can simply make a list of website to tunnel through VPN and click Save, all thanks to these new Tomato builds.
Worried about setting up static routes for devices or websites to go through VPN? FlashRouters support team now covers these features with the purchase of any Tomato ARM firmware-based router.
