Introduced in 2002, the classic Linksys WRT54G served the role as the first Open Source DD-WRT router. Now, in this age of remakes and reboots, Linksys has brought the WRT series back from the techno-graveyard, bigger and badder than ever. That clunky blue and black box with two antennas prodding out of the back has been improved with a sleek starship design, complete with four external antennas.
The 1.6 GHz Dual-Core ARM processor in the WRT1900ACv2 AKA the 1900ACS is one of the first FlashRouters to use a Marvell chipset. If you are looking for a high-end router for gaming, streaming, video calls, or general improvement on your VPN use, look no further.
Upgrading to a DD-WRT WRT1900ACv2 allows for built-in VPN connections with OpenVPN and PPTP, creating a secure tunnel for any device just by connecting to the router. When you use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection, you get an additional layer of Internet security and encryption that allows you to mask your location or to access regionally restricted video and streaming content.
Dual Router Setup Ready: In the dual router setup, one router is connected to your local Internet Service Provider and the WRT1900AC v2 can be used as a dedicated VPN router.

Introducing the FlashRouters Router Privacy App - the simple browser-based solution to connect a VPN service on a router. Just a couple clicks and secure your entire home network.
Developed by the DD-WRT & VPN experts at FlashRouters, the FlashRouters Router Privacy App integrates support for most top VPN services.
The FlashRouters Privacy App works just like an app for Android, Windows or Apple iOS except it’s located on your router. And there is no separate app to install.
However, when you connect to VPN with the FR App, it is not just your computer that you are securing, instead you are securing every device in your home at once. Simply enter your VPN login information, search for your preferred VPN server location, and click Connect to get started.
In many cases you may not want your entire home network to tunnel through your router VPN connection, and so we have also built enhanced VPN management options in the FR Privacy App.
Choose to start the router VPN connection as soon as you connect to the Internet. Reboot your router at any time and automatically restart your VPN connection.
Click the VPN server dropdown list and type in the name or country for your preferred servers to quickly find your desired location.
Worried about IP Address and DNS leaking? Check The Global Kill Switch and the FlashRouter will block Internet access if the VPN connection is inactive. If you ever disconnect or lose connection to your VPN service, the Global Kill Switch will make sure that your ISP IP address does not leak. Checking the box will instantly activate Kill Switch on your FlashRouter.
Instead of setting up your VPN on one device at a time with different instructions for each device, you only need to setup VPN once.
Certain devices like streaming players, gaming systems, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices do not have native support for VPN client connections. These devices need security too, and with the FR Privacy App all devices that connect to your home network can now connect through your VPN service.
If your VPN provider limits the number of simultaneous connections to their service, you can use just 1 connection for a FlashRouter to cover ALL devices in your home with no device connection limit.
By device management in the FR App Options tab to easily enable or disable VPN on any network device with the click of a button.
Instead of listing all servers in alphabetical order, we can create additional sorts for By Country views where users can select the least loaded or server closest to them geographically. This helps VPN providers to properly distribute the bandwidth load in real time across servers. (*For Select Participating VPN Providers)
Get the latest server options and list within the FlashRouters Router Privacy App.(For Select Participating VPN Providers)
App user interface is optimized to be viewed via mobile without need for a separate mobile app install.
Once you establish a VPN connection within the FR App, select any other server from the dropdown list and click Reconnect to quickly update your location. No need to make any manual settings changes.
Easy-to-use toggle setting that tells the FR App to start up the VPN network connection as soon as the router connects to the Internet.
If public certs and private keys are required for user or server authentication, then extra boxes will automatically appear on the main VPN connection page for users to input accordingly.

It worked like a charm with Proton VPN. The only issue I had was with my provider which uses PPPoE, but I solved it by using 2-routers configuration which was perfectly explained in the instruction. So far it "just works" so I'm pretty happy with my new router buddy!
I got my Lynksys FR few days back and got some issues while uploading my NordVPN settings.
Thanks to the FlashRouters Support Team, Mike and Tom, all went very well once I let them handing over my settings from remote.
Thanks again for your patience and great customer oriented approach!
Cheers,
RaY
I debated for two days buyng and flashing vs going this way, finally pulled the trigger with flashrouters to save my time and make things simpler. It was the best move I could have made, the linksys 1900ACS came within days, the setup could not have been simpler. Using the provided guide it was literally a .. b .. c ..I was up and running on the new router in two hours after opening the box, and had completely finished all configuration within 4 hours. Many thanks to the team here.
All I have to say is this is a great router! I have been in the market for a powerful router for a few years, but the task of actually flashing the thing seemed a bit... well... daunting. FlashRouters gets the job done!
This is a great router from a great company. I have been using Buffered VPN for several years, but I could not watch US shows on my AppleTV, living out here in Mexico. FlashRouters offered a solution, and a great one at that!
Forget spending hours deciphering and testing the DD-WRT forums/website/Wiki for the correct hardware version and proper build only to discover that you've improperly flashed your device and bricked it.
FlashRouters offers what many router manufacturers won't: better firmware plus basic network and VPN service configuration assistance from responsive and highly trained USA tech support that will actually answer your questions.
